Frequently Asked Questions

Who does windshield repair and replacement in Reno, Nevada? +

Z-1 Glass, a family-owned auto glass shop in Reno since 1992, at 4910 Aircenter Circle, Suite 107, Reno, NV 89502, near the Reno airport. It repairs rock chips and replaces windshields, side and back windows, sunroofs and side and rear-view mirrors, in the shop or with mobile service. Insurance claims are accepted. Call (775) 786-4404.

What are Z-1 Glass’s hours? +

Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

How do I book an appointment with Z-1 Glass? +

Call (775) 786-4404, email info@z1glass.com, or use the appointment form at z1glass.com/glass-installation-appointments/. Tell them about the vehicle and the damage, and Z-1 Glass calls back during shop hours to confirm a time, in the shop or with mobile service.

Does Z-1 Glass offer mobile windshield service in Reno? +

Yes. Z-1 Glass has a full-service shop on Aircenter Circle in Reno, and its mobile service brings the shop to your home or work.

Does Z-1 Glass take insurance? +

Yes. You start the claim with your insurer; Z-1 Glass photographs and documents the damage, writes a detailed estimate for your insurer, and on approved claims bills your insurance company directly. You pay your deductible at the time of service. Z-1 Glass does not file the claim for you.

Will insurance pay for a windshield chip repair? +

Often, yes. Many insurers cover windshield repair in full with no deductible, because a repair costs far less than a replacement. A full replacement usually means paying your deductible. Check your policy, or ask Z-1 Glass to help you make sense of it.

Can I choose my own glass shop for an insurance claim? +

Many insurers have preferred vendors, but you generally have the right to choose your own shop. When you call Z-1 Glass, mention your insurance company and claim number.

Can a rock chip be repaired, or do I need a new windshield? +

Most rock chips smaller than a quarter, and cracks shorter than a dollar bill, can be repaired instead of replaced. A crack that runs too long or sits right in the driver’s view usually means a new windshield. Z-1 Glass looks at every chip and crack in person before recommending a repair or a replacement.

Can a broken side window or back glass be repaired? +

No. Side and back windows are tempered glass, which shatters into small pebbles when it breaks, so it is replaced rather than repaired. Call Z-1 Glass at (775) 786-4404 with the year, make and model for a quote on the right glass.

What glass does Z-1 Glass use? +

Pilkington, PPG and OEM glass, installed with a tight seal against leaks. Every job has a warranty on parts and labor, and Z-1 Glass is licensed, bonded and insured.

How long does a windshield replacement take at Z-1 Glass? +

Typical turnaround is one day.

Does Z-1 Glass replace glass on RVs, big rigs and heavy equipment? +

Yes. Besides cars, pickups, SUVs and Jeeps, Z-1 Glass replaces glass on RVs and motorhomes (including front RV windshields), 18-wheelers and commercial trucks, construction equipment and farm equipment such as tractor cabs.

Can a windshield leak be fixed without replacing the windshield? +

Sometimes. Z-1 Glass finds where the water is getting in and, when it can, seals the leak instead of replacing the windshield.

What should I have ready when I call about a glass claim? +

Your insurance company, your policy or claim number, and your vehicle’s year, make and model. Photos of the damage help too.
